Job Summary:
The Auditor provides entry-level audit support by reviewing royalty statements, bank documents, and production records to calculate accurate annualized cash flow estimates. The Auditor focuses on learning internal audit standards, building foundational financial analysis skills, and managing less complex or lower-value audits under the guidance of more experienced auditors. This role is essential for maintaining accurate records, identifying basic discrepancies, and supporting faster and compliant deal evaluations.

Job Description:

  • Evaluate and review basic financial documentation, such as royalty statements and lease operating statements, to determine annualized cash flows.

  • Assist in identifying abnormalities or prior period adjustments that affect reported revenues.

  • Flag discrepancies or missing data and escalate them to the Senior Auditor for resolution.

  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of supporting documents used in underwriting evaluations.

  • Maintain proper documentation for each audit case and follow internal version control standards.

  • Collaborate with peers and senior auditors to meet team-level accuracy and timeliness targets.

  • Focus on smaller and less complex audits, learning how to interpret oil and gas financial documents.

  • Work under close supervision, receiving regular feedback to improve audit skills and judgment.

  • Participate in onboarding discussions, audit training, and continuous knowledge development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 0–2 years of experience in auditing, financial analysis, or documentation review (internship or entry-level exposure preferred).

  • Basic understanding of royalty statements, production reports, and lease operating statements is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation quality.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, formatting, data organization).

  • Effective communication skills, especially in flagging discrepancies and asking clarification questions.

  • Willingness to learn audit procedures, cash flow validation, and industry-specific standards.

  • Ability to work under close supervision in a structured and remote team environment.

  • Strong sense of accountability and openness to feedback.

  • Alignment with internal audit policies, processes, and documentation protocols.
