Job Summary:

The Genealogy and Title Research Specialist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive research to identify and locate heirs of deceased individuals, particularly U.S. mineral owners. This role requires expertise in genealogy, title research, and skip tracing to accurately track down living heirs and obtain their contact information. The Specialist will leverage professional tools, databases, and investigative techniques to support the company’s mission of securing rightful heirship and ensuring proper management of mineral interests.


Job Description:

  • Conduct in-depth genealogical research to trace family lines and identify living heirs of deceased mineral owners in the United States.

  • Perform title research on mineral and property records to verify ownership histories and determine potential heirs.

  • Utilize skip tracing techniques and investigative tools to locate heirs, their descendants, and associated contact information.

  • Analyze and validate collected data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Prepare detailed reports documenting research findings, methodologies, and sources used.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, legal counsel, and external partners as needed to support heir identification and claims processes.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and integrity.

  • Continuously update knowledge of genealogy, public records, and investigative techniques relevant to U.S. property and mineral rights research.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in History, Genealogy, Legal Studies, or a related field is preferred but not required.

  • Experience:

    - 7–10 years of professional experience in genealogy research, title examination, or investigative services.
    - Experience with U.S. property, probate, and inheritance records is highly desirable.
    - Background in private investigation, real estate research, or legal support roles is advantageous.


    Technical Skills:

  • Proficient with genealogical research platforms and public records databases (e.g., Ancestry, FamilySearch, LexisNexis, county property records).

  • Skilled in skip tracing software and investigative tools.

  • Ability to analyze complex data and produce detailed reports.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) or equivalent software.

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Understanding of U.S. property ownership laws, probate processes, and inheritance regulations.

  • Knowledge of mineral rights and associated legal frameworks is a plus.

  • Familiarity with genealogical research standards and ethical practices.
