Job Summary:

A Joint Interest Billing (JIB) Analyst is a professional who reviews and verifies the accuracy and compliance of data related to the exploration, production, and financial operations of oil and gas companies. Their role is critical in ensuring that the data reported by these companies is accurate, consistent, and in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. The JIB Analyst works with joint interest billing data auditing practices.

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data related to production volumes, reserves, and financial transactions.

  • For joint interest billing practices, ensure that expenses are properly allocated according to contractual agreements and regulatory requirements.

  • Cross-check data against source documents and reports.

  • Verify the accuracy of financial records, including revenue, expenditures, and tax payments.

  • Ensure proper accounting practices and accurate financial reporting.

  • Prepare detailed reports highlighting findings, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.

  • Document procedures, findings, and recommendations.

  • Identify potential risks related to data accuracy, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.

  • For joint interest billing responsibilities, prepare reports of invoice balances and request payment processing of accounts payable transactions.

  • Keep track of the working interest wells and update the decimal interests noting any discrepancies and prepare reports to the supervisor.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: A degree in accounting, finance, engineering, geology, or a related field.

  • Experience: Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) in auditing financial data.

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or industry-specific certifications.

    Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.

  • Proficiency in using Excel and Google Sheets.

    Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and resolve discrepancies.

  • Attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to present findings and recommendations clearly and concisely.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Understanding of industry-specific software and databases.

  • Knowledge of key oil and gas terms and ability to read joint interest billing statements.
