Job Summary:

The Underwriting Technician supports the Underwriting Team by managing data entry, documentation preparation, and technical file organization for acquisition evaluations. The role ensures that all inputs required by Underwriters are accurate, complete, and delivered in a timely and compliant manner. This position directly contributes to the operational efficiency of the Reserves and Underwriting Closing Teams by handling structured, detail-oriented tasks that enable faster deal turnaround and technical standardization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Parse, clean, and organize production and well data from internal and third-party sources, including API numbers and well names.

  • Enter data into Excel spreadsheets and designated systems following standardized formats and naming conventions.

  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of submitted data to ensure readiness for underwriting evaluations.

  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies in collaboration with Underwriters and other team members.

  • Prepare, organize, and maintain technical documentation such as regulatory filings, public records, and broker materials.

  • Support evaluation workflows by setting up deal folders and ensuring required data inputs are complete.

  • Track incoming and outgoing evaluation documentation for internal and marketed deals.

  • Collaborate with the Reserves Team to support standardization of evaluation processes and inputs.

  • Assist the Underwriting Closing Team by organizing final documentation and verifying data files for completeness.

  • Maintain digital records related to API numbers, mineral rights, and property documentation.

  • Follow established quality control protocols and contribute to process consistency across the team.

  • Provide operational support for tools, templates, and documentation workflows.

  • Identify recurring data challenges and suggest basic improvements to templates or formatting practices.

  • Adhere to internal policies and documentation standards to ensure compliance with industry requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or college-level coursework in Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences, Energy Studies, Information Management, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).

  • Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in data entry, technical documentation, or administrative support within a technical or energy-related environment.

    Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, formatting, formulas, and basic data validation).

  • Familiarity with large dataset handling, template-driven documentation, and digital file organization.

  • Knowledge of oil and gas production data, well naming conventions, and API identifiers is an advantage.

  • Comfortable using digital file systems, shared folders, and version-controlled workspaces.

    Soft Skills:

  • High attention to detail and consistency in data handling.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Clear written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members remotely.

  • Dependable, responsive, and structured in task execution.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of oil and gas production workflows and mineral acquisition data.

  • Familiarity with mineral rights, well structures, or technical records is a plus.

  • Awareness of regulatory standards for documentation in the energy or mineral sectors is beneficial.
